Ellensburg Adopt-a-Stream

Volunteer projects help us value of the natural world and the relationship between salmon, stream health, and human impacts. We are excited to see fish in local streams and are working to improve stream habitat.

Ellensburg is home to 13 miles of urban stream that were drastically altered as the city grew. In Ellensburg, 11 community groups have adopted a total of 5.25 miles of urban streams. These groups organize bi-annual stream clean-ups and monitor the health of their adopted stream reach. Last year, the program removed more than 700 pounds of trash from local streams.
